5th ALL NATIONS CUP SOCCER -- MASTERS DIVISION TEAM AND RESULTS:
At this year's 5th annual All Nations Cup from July 13-29, Denmark was again represented among the record participation of 43 nations - all players from the Pacific NW. The last four years we fielded a vibrant team in the open division. This year, we decided to bring several seasoned members of the club - and a few new guys with Danish roots - together in the Master's Division of 12 teams.

Scheduled to play three strong teams in the opening rounds, Romania, Brazil and Korea, the team looked really good against the defending champions, Romania, but suffered a few costly counter-attacks before re-claiming the midfield in 2nd half. After losing 1-3, we had to put everything on the line against Brazil. With a lot of heart, we put the Brazilians under constant pressure - but our offense could not score - and a fast counter-attack again let to a single game-winning goal by Brazil.

Without a chance of advancing, injuries - and probably also a rainy wet Sunday-morning - cut back the Danes' roster by nearly half leaving the amputated team without many chances against a quick and technically well-playing Korean team. Frustrations flared a bit and the third defeat could not be avoided - although we also agreed that the tennis-score of 0-6 surely could have been avoided with a fresh line-up.
All Nations Cup 2007 proved again to be a great soccer tournament in the Pacific NW. Results and photos can be viewed at
