DB LODGE 29 FEBRUARY 4 MINUTES: President Thomas Buus opened the meeting @ 7.32 with the pledge of allegiance and 22 members in attendance.Role call; All officers were present except for Past president Dean Larsen, Treasurer Lexie Sorensen and Vice president Henning Buus Secretary report; It was motioned and second to accept the minutes as printed in the newsletter. No membership application or members to be initiated. The minutes from the 2008 convention was received from the District secretary and thank you letters for the Christmas poinsettia was received from Ernie Lauridsen . Egon Molbak. Cornelious Jensen donated $100 to the lodge in appreciation of the poinsettia delivered to him.Announcement; Annelise Kromann announced the crown princess would celebrate her Birthday on Feb. 5 and princess Marie on the 6th Fastelavn will be celebrated @ NWDF on Feb 22, contact foundation for detailsTreasurer report; Flemming reported for Lexie who was absent due to surgery, Flemmings report was accepted as presentedCommittee report; Leif reported that the lodge #29 team is now 2 win and 2 losses, good luck to the soccer players. Flemming reported on the Golf tournament on July 11th. We were 21 bowlers at the last practice and we have more practices before the golf tournament in Vancouver on March 7th. Frank reported on the installation party that was a great success again and a special thanks to the Himmelbjerget kids Caitlin, Melissa, Kristina and Kelley for helping with serving, Arlene and Frank would like to thank the Brotherhood and sisterhood lodges for the generous gift card presented to them at the meeting for putting on the party, Thank youConvention; The following 2009 Convention Delegates were elected: Chuck Larsen, Thomas Larsen, Mel Hollister and Rasmus Madsen, only one alternate, Ken Kromann, was willing to accept nomination, but we can still recruit 3 more at the next meeting. Please serve when askedLexie requested not to send her flowers, so a small committee decided after the meeting to give her a one year membership to Cougar Mountain ZOO in Issaquah. (This is the zoo where the Convention will have a Sat. activity)Small pot was won by Ken Kromann and for the Big pot Verner Larsen was drawn first, but was not present, so Linda Jensen won the $200.Meeting adjourned 8.08 pm --submitted by Secretary Frank Poulsen
THANK YOU FROM LEXIE: Thank you to the members of DB Lodge 29 and DS Lodge 40 for all their good thoughts and wishes after my recent surgery. I especially thank DB 29 for the membership to the Cougar Mt. Zoo in Issaquah. This is a small non-profit zoo where you can get up close and personal with the animals and talking birds. I appreciate the membership very much and look forward to going for visits my furry & feathered friends.
INSTALLATION DINNER: A huge thank you to Frank & Arlene Poulsen for stepping in and manning the kitchen with preparations for a delicious Installation Dinner enjoyed by 73 guests. Himmelbjerget campers ably assisted with serving.

SISTERHOOD EVERGREEN LODGE #40: The February 4, 2009 meeting was called to order by President Lisa Svitavsky at 7:31pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. All officers were present except Past President Marete Eadie (Helga Markussen stood in) and 2nd Trustee Grete Ballard (Ruth Jensen-Larsen stood in). The meeting began with a memorial in honor of recently departed sister Hattie Andersen, a member since 1941. She resided in Lincoln, Nebraska and was 100 years old. Minutes of our last meeting were approved as read. Correspondence included thank you notes from Ruth Olsen (Past-President 195l), Rosetta Cleary, the Scandinavian Hour, and Lexie Sorensen. Notices from the national newsletter included a reminder of upcoming scholarship application deadlines. Two letters from the District Secretary Nichole Al-Khedairy included a reminder to pay dues and eight action items in preparation for the convention May, which are due March 17th. Hotel and registration information was also made available to all members present and all are welcome to attend. A letter soliciting ads for the program was also received, please contact Karen Favero. Bills included DSS newsletter and national dues. Motion approved for payment of both bills. Financial report was presented by Karen Favero. Patti Olsen reported on her mother, Ruth, who is doing better and will be going back home soon. Well wishes to Lexie for a speedy recovery. Trustee’s report was given by Anne Hollister. 2009 District Convention committee – Still needing items for the fish pond and door prizes. Suggested items include table runners, vases, figurines, candleholders, candles… New business included discussion of delegate/alternate nominees. Members voted for nominees of both 2008 Outstanding Lodge member and District member. Karen will bring copies of District Bylaws to the next meeting for review of any needed resolutions. There was discussion regarding monthly lodge newsletters now to be e-mailed, acknowledging that some members do not have email and a motion was passed to absorb the postage costs from our funds. Motion passed to place full page ad in District convention program. Lisa won the coin march and donated back to the fund. There being no further business. BOWLING PRACTICES: Everyone is welcome!! (no need to be a “serious” bowler, just a fun-lover) Next practice session is at 2:45pm on Sunday Feb. 15 with final practice on March 1 at Sun Villa Lanes, 3080 - 148 Ave. SE, Bellevue. All ages are welcome—please specify if you need bumper lane for kids. Vancouver hosts The Pacific NW Bowling Tournament on Sat., March 7, 2009 at Revs Bowling Centre in Burnaby, BC. Please contact Lexie (425-455-9225 or flsorensen@msn.com ) with names of all bowlers who are coming by 8PM FRIDAY night before each session. Sun Villa is giving us a BIG discount this year—they enjoy the happy Danish visits (must be the bar!). In return, we need to release extra lanes as early as possible so they can give them to other bowlers, so commit early and arrive on time. Thanks for your cooperation. FASTELAVN: Celebrate Fastelavn with the Northwest Danish Foundation! Bring your kids, grandkids and friends! We will have lots of fun making Fastelavnsris and beating the cat (candy) out of the barrel, an old Danish tradition! The lucky child who breaks the barrel will be crowned the cat Queen or cat King!
