Role call: all officers were present except Trustee Henning Buus Minutes: The minutes was accepted as printed in our newsletter Treasurer report. The Treasurer report was accepted as presented Correspondence. Newsletters received from DBIA lodges #33 Tacoma, #328 Vancouver BC, #348 Eugene OR. NW Nordics Calendar Leif Erikson Foundation, and the Nordic Heritage Museum Seattle. A thank you card from Ernest Lauridsen Seattle and a card from NWDF about their Tivoli Gala fundraising auction on Saturday May 3rd. 2008. To save a stamp Chuck Larsen thanked the lodge in person for his first poinsettias at Christmas time New business: Edith Christensen from the NWDF came to our meeting and talked a little about the Foundation and its future, Edith also talked about the upcoming “A Night in Tivoli” fundraiser on May 3rd, to be held at the Swedish Culture Center. The best news she gave was that the Foundation will keep their building in Seattle at least for now. Committee Reports: Golf: DB Lodge #29’s annual golf outing to Gold Mountain is July 12th. The lodge voted to donate $200 to the committee for prize money. Bowling: Lexie is attracting a lot of people to the bowling practices this year, with 20 all ready signed up to go to Vancouver BC. See details in this newsletter. Finance: new treasurer Lexie Sorensen, Ib Rossen and Thomas Buus. Frank Poulsen reported on the installation party, held on January 19 was a success again this year, and we had a profit of $250 which we donated to the NWDF for hall rental. The upcoming 2008 convention to be held in Tacoma on April 18-20 needed delegates and alternates to be selected from our lodge, so the following members were chosen, Delegates: Otto Brask, Mel Hollister, Flemming Sorensen and Dean Larsen and Alternates: Anker Sorensen, Chuck Larsen, Frank Poulsen and Tom Buus. The lodge also voted to place a full page ad, in the convention program for the Tacoma Convention. Birgitte McIntosh, the daughter of Edith Andersen, was introduced as guest Seattle Convention 2009 is already in the planning stages: Tom Buus reported that the best suited hotel the committee could find was the Hilton Garden Inn in Issaquah, he was authorized to reserve it after getting approval from the Sisterhood for May 1-3, 2009 Good and welfare. Frank Reported that Hanne Poulsen was hospitalized in Roskilde DK for kidney stone, but is at printing time, at her home in Roskilde and feeling much better Small pot Edith Andersen had the right # for the small drawing Big pot Annelise Kroman was the lucky winner of $200 of the big pot, that could have been won by Kate Praegel if she had been present Meeting adjourned @ 8.18 Submitted by Your Secretary Frank Poulsen vvCome early and enjoy snacks and drinks before the next meetingvv

BC TOURNAMENT INFO: 2008 Pacific NW Bowling Tournament is Sat., March 8 at Revs Bowling Centre, 5502 Lougheed Hwy in Burnaby, BC. We begin with coffee and socializing at noon with bowling at 1pm sharp. After party at Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas Street, Burnaby, (5 minute drive from Bowling Alley) starts at 5pm Open-faced sandwiches will be sold, 3 for $10cdn followed by award presentations.

He will post photos from Seattle Lodges and Danes Soccer Club events, please send your comments and photos to: 2wolff@embarqmail.com SISTERHOOD EVERGREEN LODGE #40: The February 6, 2008 meeting was called to order at 7:33 PM by VP Lisa Svitavsky, filling in for President Marete Eadie, who had an excused absence. Irene Jensen filled in as VP for Lisa. All other officers were present. Minutes of our last meeting were approved as read. Correspondence included: Thank you from Ruth E. Olsen for Christmas visit and poinsettia brought by Anne H. A letter from Tacoma Convention Committee gave initial info about upcoming District Convention to be held April 18-20, 2008 at La Quinta Inn in Tacoma, along with info on buying ads in program. Two notices from NWDF: invite to donate to Himmelbjerget camp and notice of annual fundraiser, a gala auction Sat. May 3rd, 2008 at Swedish Cultural Center. Last correspondence was from Christina Salle, PNW District Secretary, and included convention information letter, Bylaws, 2006 minutes, convention nomination forms and Resolution form. Bill for national dues presented by Treasurer Karen and motion approved to pay it. Treasurer’s Report was read by Karen. We were paid a visit by the new President of NWDF, Edith Christiansen. She informed us that the most recent offer to purchase the building was turned down. The Executive Board has approved an experienced real estate agent as property manager for the building and he is from our Danish Community. Edith also discussed her philosophy on running the NWDF as a business, whose programs need to pay for themselves. Another visitor was Brotherhood member Thomas Buus reporting on the 2009 convention plans. A proposal was made to consider Issaquah’s Hilton Garden Inn with rooms for $119 and meeting rooms free with a food allowance. Sisterhood members discussed and motion made and approved to commit to this plan. New business included: Voted Greta Ballard, Ruth Jensen-Larsen and Nicole Al-Khedairy as delegates to the 2008 district convention. Karen Favero and Anne Blackburn are alternates. Motion passed to purchase $60 ad in convention program. Motion approved to donate $100 to Himmelbjerget camp. There was discussion regarding processing of Princess Application and this will be followed up on. Anne H. gave the Trustee’s report. There was discussion for possible lodge activities including a Sunday brunch at Swedish Cultural Center and another meeting to include open-faced sandwiches such as Past-Presidents’ celebration in April--tabled until March meeting. Since February is National Heart Month, Lisa presented some information regarding heart health including warning signals for women and heart attacks. Prior to adjourning the meeting we sang Happy Birthday to Lisa and then she sang a small rendition of “Det er min fødselsdag”. A special “Thank you” to Chuck Larsen who made a donation to the Sisterhood in honor of his 80th birthday and successful heart surgery. Respectfully submitted by Anne Blackburn, Lodge #40 Secretary

On
January19th, 83 people from the Puget Sound area came
together at the NWDF center to celebrate the new officers of the Danish
Sisterhood and Brotherhood. After socializing with cocktails, the meal
began with herring and snaps followed by a delicious pork roast dinner
with all the trimmings prepared by Jorgen Mathiasen from IKEA. Dinner
was served by our young Himmelbjerget campers Kelley Blackburn, Melissa
Buus, Caitlin Larsen and Karsten McIntosh. During the dinner there were
introductions including Sisterhood Past President
EMILY OLSEN WAS INSTALLED AS 2008 DANISH PRINCESS 10TH ANNUAL GREAT DANE GOLF TOURNAMENT: Reserve Saturday, July 12, 2008 for Lodge 29’s annual event on Gold Mountain’s Cascade Course. DB LODGE 29 MEMBERS HAVE FIRST PRIORITY TO SIGN UP BEFORE MAY 1ST.
